Dr. Gary VanMeter Award for Risk Management Excellence

At the Annual Membership Meeting in January, MUSIC announced the winners of the 2023 VanMeter Award for Risk Management Excellence. This annual award uses various criteria to choose the recipients, including looking at the total severity of all claims as a percentage of the school’s annual assessment, reduction in workers’ compensation claims (as compared to 2019 – 2021 claims), and the reduction in workers’ compensation indemnity frequency as a percentage of the total frequency (again compared to 2019 – 2021).

The 2023 VanMeter Award recipients are:

• Small District (0-499 students) – Lonedell R-XIV School District
• Medium District (500-1,999 students) – Portageville School District
• Large District (2,000+ students) – Potosi R-III School District
• Community College – East Central Community College
