Dr. Gary VanMeter Award for Risk Management Excellence

At the Annual Membership Meeting in January, MUSIC announced the winners of the 2024 VanMeter Award for Risk Management Excellence. This annual award uses various criteria to choose the recipients, including looking at the total severity of all claims as a percentage of the school’s annual assessment, reduction in workers’ compensation claims (as compared to 2021 – 2023 claims), and the reduction in workers’ compensation indemnity frequency as a percentage of the total frequency (again compared to 2021 – 2023). The 2024 VanMeter Award recipients are:

• Small District (0-499 students) – Northeast Nodaway R-V School District
• Medium District (500-1,999 students) – Cole Camp R-I School District
• Large District (2,000+ students) – Washington School District
• Community College – North Central Missouri College
